  • Nethercott Meeting Michael Morpurgo!

    Sat 18 Nov 2017

Mr Cox and his working group bumped into Michael Morpurgo whilst out and about on the farm today!

After a hearty lunch of meat and potato pie (followed by lemon cake and cream!), all of St Jude’s pupils (and staff) worked together to move piles of wood from one side of the farm to the over. Lots of pupils showed they were determined to work together successfully and did not stop for over an hour! The wood will now be split and eventually used in the log burner in the quiet room. After this farm task, group two prepared the stables for the donkeys, ponies and horses, and then led them to their home for the night. Group 1 went on the trailer to work with the cows and sheep and met with an unexpected, and famous, visitor!  Group 3 had a session indoors and are now out at the dairy for an evening job. Hot chocolate and a quiz about all the children have learnt today will end the day.

  • WestHill Park Choral Day

    Wed 12 Jul 2017
On Thursday 6th July 2017, Year 6 and some of the Key Stage Choir were invited to sing at West Hill Park Choral Day. The children spent the day practising, with the aid of a live band and the support of the West Hill Park music teachers. The children were able to enjoy the school's extensive grounds and were invited to eat in their café at lunchtime. The day ended with a concert for parents. The children were fabulous and had a great deal of fun learning new songs and performing as part of a larger choir of over 100 children. The children sang Shooting Star by Owl City; Beauty and the Beast- Disney; Fix You by Coldplay; Every Time I Feel the Spirit - Gospel; Don't Worry About Me by Frances and Best Day of my Life by American Authors. A particular well done to Archie and Lauren who sang solo parts for Don't Worry About Me.  This was a first for St Jude's, but if invited again we will definitely be attending. A big thank you  to Mrs Crane who leads  the choir and is always looking for opportunities for them to perform.
  • The Key Stage 2 Summer Show - The Coin Collection

    Wed 12 Jul 2017
Over the last few days and nights, Key Stage 2 have been impressing their audiences with popular songs  from the charts as part of their end of year performance. The show: The Coin Collection written by Mrs McKnight and Miss Crouch, takes us on a journey around the world led by the characters Ben (Harry Wright) and Molly (Jessica Wylde). The two children find a box in their shed of coins collected by their grandfather, who was once in the Navy. As you would expect from a man who had travelled the world, he collected many coins from far and wide, Africa to Ibiza to name a few! The children have had great fun learning the songs  and performing in the show. We hope you had the opportunity to enjoy it.
  • St Peter and St Paul Feast Day Liturgy - Year 2 and Year 3

    Thu 29 Jun 2017

To celebrate the Feast Day of their class Saints, St Peter and St Paul, Year 2 and Year 3 held a special liturgy.  This was a time of prayer, exploring the lives of the Saints and reflecting on how we can learn from them.  In both of the classes we have been thinking about the awful atrocities which have affected the lives of so many people in the UK: the attacks on Manchester and London, and the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower.  So many lives destroyed and so many people in need of help.  St Paul taught us that everyone should be united in love, not torn apart by differences.

The children decided that they wanted to do something to help. As part of our Liturgy, the children bought in their pocket money to raise money for the 'UK Solidarity Fund', run by the Red Cross.  This is raising money for all those affected by the terror attacks in the UK.

Together with their parents, the children have raised a fantastic £164.57 for this charity.  Absolutely amazing!  Thank you to all those who came and donated to these worthwhile cause.
