Southampton Art Gallery
Year 5 had a fantastic day at Southampton Art Gallery. We were fortunate to see the Perseus Series on display and listen to a guided talk about each of the paintings. We discussed use of symbolism, considered the mood of each painting and the story that each painting told. We then did some drama, which involved creating a tableaux for a painting in the series. The next part of the morning involved taking part in a clay workshop. We each made our own clay Medusa head and learn skills such as attaching the clay together, adding texture with the use of materials and pinching the clay to manipulate it. In the afternoon, we had a self-guided tour around the gallery and looked at artwork which linked to our local communities.
