Mythological Art
Year 5’s mythological art was inspired by the artist and illustrator, Victoria Topping.
In her award-winning book Mythologica, Topping illustrated Greek Gods and Goddesses. She used multiple textures and images to create her work, and a fusion of technology and traditional techniques.
In order to create our art work, we used a variety of mediums, which complemented one another. We sketched our image, followed by using watercolours, before adding some texture using material. We wanted our designs to reflect the vibrancy of Topping’s, and used our knowledge of colour theory to support our choice of colour and its arrangement. To add some finishing touches and the effect of gold leafing, we used gold pen.
