Rocks, soils and fossils
This half-term, Year 3 science topic is 'Rocks, Soils and Fossils'. Pupils started by collecting interesting rocks and stones from the school grounds, and examining them using different hand lenses. They were then sorted, grouped and classified using the key vocabulary.
They then conducted a fair test to see whether the 6 rocks we have been looking at in more detail were permeable of impermeable. These were basalt, chalk, coal, quartz, mudstone and sandstone.
