Hampton Court Palace

Year 5 had a fantastic trip to Hampton Court Palace; the home of King Henry VIII.  We took part in two workshops.  The first workshop involved us using replica objects that are based on historical artefacts and excerpts from Tudor sources to find out more about Tudor England.  We learned about bias, and the need to consider this when looking at sources.  We used the sources/artefacts to construct a balanced opinion of Henry VIII and to answer an enquiry question.

The second workshop involved going on a walk around some of the key parts of the palace and using the building itself as a primary source.  We also explored the hierarchy and status within the Tudor court.

As well as this, we explored the Tudor gardens, and admired the lime trees.  We couldn't believe the size of the tapestries on the walls!

We all felt very fortunate we had the opportunity to experience what life may have been like in this very famous palace.
