  • A dragon visits St Jude's....

    Mon 28 Jan 2019

The children had a very exciting day today when M P Robertson, popular children's author and writer of 'The Egg' came to visit St Jude's and bought with him his pet dragon!  Watch the video here to see how Mr Cox's morning walk was disturbed by a very unusual sight.

The children were thoroughly entertained in our whole school assembly as they heard the funny stories Mark had to tell and they definitely enjoyed hearing his stories and watching the characters come to life.

Over the course of the day, each class spent time listening to his stories and learning how to draw dragons.  The children were completely focused and drew some amazing dragons.

What a fantastic day we all had.

  • Eco Ambassadors

    Wed 05 Dec 2018

On Friday 30th November the Eco Ambassadors represented St Jude’s at The Lord Mayor’s Chambers in the Guildhall Portsmouth.

Along with 18 other schools, they listened to a talk given by a marine biologist about the harm ‘single use’ plastics is causing to the environment. Afterwards they took part in a quiz and had the opportunity to submit a logo design for the ‘See Bin, Sea Change’ campaign.

We are extremely proud to announce that one of the St Jude’s Eco Ambassadors, Bethany (Y5) was the winning entry. The team are looking forward to returning to Portsmouth University where computer and design experts will prepare the logo for use in local shops and businesses. So look out for Bethany’s design when you are out and about!

  • KS2 World War 1 Music Performance

    Thu 08 Nov 2018

The topic all the KS2 classes have been working on up to Remembrance Day has been WWI.

As part of the topic, Mrs Crane, the music teacher, has been teaching the children a selection of WWI songs which were sung in the trenches by soldiers to help keep up morale.

She also taught the children to use percussion instruments to accompany well-known classical music associated with the Remembrance Service, such as Elgar’s Nimrod.

  • St Jude's Rock Stars

Fri 26 Jan 2018 Mrs McKnight

On Wednesday 24th January, children who participate in RockSteady sessions at school, performed an amazing concert for the school and their parents.  I was fortunate enough to be present and I was thoroughly entertained by these children.  The concentration the children demonstrated throughout their performance was a testament to the hard work of Tom, their RockSteady tutor.  The ages of the children ranged from Reception class to yr 5 and they kept time with each other well.

Thank you St Jude's Rock Stars.  You gave us an entertaining afternoon.

  • Stubbington Study Centre

    Mon 20 Nov 2017
The children in years 5 and 6  had a great day out on Friday at Stubbington Study Centre. They all showed determination and teamwork as they tackled the assault course in the morning, in an attempt to bring aid to people caught in an earthquake! In the afternoon they built dens - some being more waterproof than others - and practised their map reading skills. Well done to Liam and Domonic, who were awarded Stubbington Superstar badges for their excellent map reading. It was great to see some of the quieter members of the group showing real leadership skills throughout the day.
