A very happy new year to you all!  I hope you had a peaceful Christmas break with family and friends.  We would like to say thank-you for the gifts both myself and Mrs Jones received.  It was very generous and thoughtful of you.

This term, our theme is 'Belief', which we will be linking to myths and legends and our class UK country, Scotland!  Please click onto the 'curriculum' icon above for more information about what we will be learning across the curriculum.  The new homework topic map is also available by clicking onto the 'homework' icon above.  Your child will be sent home with a paper copy as well, with the details of when the homework is due.

Thank-you for your continued support.

Year 4 Visit to the 19 Fourteas  Tearoom Havant

Over the last two days, year 4 have visited the 19 Fourteas Tearoom in Havant. They  were able to handle many artefacts from the 1940s and experienced  what life was like in during the war years - even tasting spam sandwiches and drinking Bovril!  Most of the children enjoyed the sandwiches but not the Bovril. Betty, the owner, showed the children how to make a "proper cup of tea" using loose leaf tea and talked to them about rationing. The children were able to see the Anderson shelter in the garden and imagined what it would have been like to  spend the night sheltering from bombs dropped by the enemy.

This visit has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to become really engaged in their new topic of Belonging.  It has  given them the chance to handle real  artefacts from seventy years ago and discuss how life is different now. They have also enjoyed sharing stories about there great grandparents and other relatives who were alive during the war. If any family has a relative who would like to come and speak to the children about their war experience, we would love to invite them into school to give us a first-hand account of there time.
