Week 3&4 - Autumn Term 2023

We have been focussing on developing personal, social and emotional skills during the past two weeks. The children took part in activities around our book focus 'The Rainbow Fish' and our song focus 'If You're Happy and you Know It'. They listened to the story, recalled it and explored the meaning behind it.

The children joined in conversations about our rules in pre-school and what it means to be a good friend. We explored turn taking and sharing and what to do if the children needed help. The children learned about emotions, giving names to each emotion and thinking about occasions when they felt them.

Self-portraits were created using a range of media including playdough. The children thought about how they were the same and different from each other.

Toothpaste and toothbrushes were used to clean models of teeth. The children talked about when they clean their own teeth and why it is important.

We are so proud of all our children and are looking forward to the next few weeks. Our next area of learning focus will be to develop communication and language skills. Our book focus will be 'Freddie and the Fairy' and our song focus will be '1,2,3, It's Good to be Me'. We have lots of lovely activities planned and are looking forward to supporting our children to learn through play.

Please use the links below of 'The Rainbow Fish' story and 'If You're Happy and you Know It' song if you would like to talk to your child about what they have been learning recently.
