Week 5&6 - Summer 1 (2024)

The staff and children have had a great end to the term. The children were finally able to release the Painted Lady butterflies that they had been caring for since they were caterpillars. The butterflies stayed around the children for quite a while after they had been released, which enabled those who wanted to hold them, the option to do so.

On Tuesday we had our class photograph outside. We are looking forward to seeing the proof of this soon!

Thursday was school Sports Day, we spent the morning outside on the school field, cheering on the school children. The pre-school children were asked if they would like to have their own race, which they have never done before. The children were very excited about this, the parents and school children did lots of clapping and cheering whilst our children were running. We had lunch outside and then came inside for ice lollies.

The children planted sunflower seeds a few weeks ago and are enjoying watching them grow. This is a whole school project to see who can grow the tallest sunflower!

Our Poetry Basket poem was 'I'm a T-Rex'. The children have been doing activities relating to dinosaurs including freezing them in ice and doing shadow drawing outside.

It was Mrs Holland's last day with the children on Thursday, before going on maternity leave. The children made her a lovely card containing individual drawings from each of them. Mrs Holland received gifts, cards and well wishes from parents and staff and would like me to pass on an extra big thank you on behalf of herself and her husband.

After half term, Mrs Fairhead will be covering Mrs Holland's maternity leave. She is a very experienced practitioner and we are looking forward to welcoming her to our team.

Please see the links below relating to what we have been doing during the past two weeks.
