St Jude's Choir Sing for Mayor
Thu 26 Nov 2015The choir have been practising every Thursday after school. They have learnt a number of songs and love performing for a real audience. Having made good links with the new Mayor, Mr Mike Ford, they were invited to sing in Fareham Precinct to mark the opening of late night Christmas shopping. The children sang beautifully and as you can see from the pictures really enjoyed the occasion.

Nethercott Update
Tue 10 Nov 2015Day 5 at Nethercott:
Group 3 started the day visiting David's farm, Bridgetown, to feed the beef cattle. They thoroughly enjoyed their trailer ride through the fields and beside the river. As they have become more familiar with their surroundings, they are beginning to notice the abundant wildlife that exists in a rural environment.
Group 2 had a very exciting pig session! After the children had given the pigs their breakfast, the pigs escaped down the lane and had to be coaxed back into their pen, assisted by a wall of children wielding bread grates. It has to be said that the pigs and the piglets are one of the children's favourite animals and looking after them has provoked some thoughtful conversations about farm animals being bred for a purpose.
Group1 displayed real teamwork this afternoon, as they worked strenuously to move logs in preparation for Forest School activities.
All the children have expressed how pleased they are that they are here and so many of them have commented on all the new things they have experienced, from trying new food to making new friends.

Nethercott Update!
Mon 09 Nov 2015The last two days have been super busy down on the farm. The weather still remains very autumnal but dry!
The children have been working hard in the kitchen garden digging up parsnips, cabbages and weeding ready for planting the new winter crops. They are becoming increasingly confident around the farm animals, big and small, and learning all about where our food comes from and how it is produced.
The Nethercott Sunday walk was a real opportunity for the children to enjoy the truly beautiful countryside around Nethercott and appreciate the local geography and how different it is to Fareham. As they raced up hills and splashed through muddy puddles with their friends, it was a joy to watch them in a different environment. As teachers, we see another side to the children when they are away from their home environment. They are really growing in independence and learning to work cooperatively to get jobs done efficiently. One group successfully made 22 litres of apple juice this afternoon and many are keen to bring some home for you to try!
Some of the other highlights of the last two days have been the Forest School sessions, cooking tea for the group and meeting the new farm puppy - Pippa. The children have also been keen to look after the four piglets who are the offspring of Liquorice, one of the young pigs which some of them met last year.
Every evening ends with a farm quiz , cocoa and a homemade biscuit and all asleep by 10:00pm - we hope!
