Week 5 & 6 - Spring 2 (2024)

The staff and children have enjoyed the past two weeks in pre-school. The children have been learning about the Easter Story, thinking about their 'Acts of Kindness' and sharing these on the interactive board. They have made Easter crafts and Easter nests. The children took their Easter nests home to eat. We held an Easter Egg hunt, the children were very good at finding the eggs and received a chocolate lolly in return! For those children who were absent, they have/will all receive a lolly.

The concepts that the children have been learning recently are 'empty' and 'under'. The children have been singing the word rap and doing the British Sign Language sign to act it out.

As it was the start of spring, the children made some lovely spring trees after we read our new story 'Busy Spring' by Sean Taylor.

Our Poetry Basket poem was 'Mrs Bluebird'. The children are really enjoying learning poetry and can say and act out many poems now. They also watched a video clip of a live nest box cam of bluebirds which they really enjoyed.

We had a special visitor in pre-school, one of our pre-school parents! She talked to the children about Ramadan. This was a lovely end to the term as the children had been learning about Ramadan and could recall some of their learning. They listened to the description of what Ramadan looks like in our local community and were taught lots of interesting facts. The children made a pair of binoculars to look at the moon and were given a date and cake bar as a gift from the child and parent. We were very grateful for our gifts.
