Cave Art
Final pieces
Year 3 pupils have learnt about Cave Art through the books, The Stolen Spear by Saviour Pirotta; Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura; and The First Drawing by Mordicai Gerstein. They discussed what might have been the purpose of these drawings and how they might have been created.
After discussing safety, they went for a walk round the grounds to look for natural materials that they might be able to use in place of paint and paintbrushes.
Using the natural materials they then tried to make some paints, and they used their natural materials to make marks.
With a crackling fire on the interactive whiteboard, Year 3 used the brushes they had made from willow at Forest School to create their final cave art piece.
