Year 1 are taking part in Forest School this HALF TERM. Your child will need their change of clothing and suitable shoes in school EVERY Tuesday. Unfortunately we do not have the space to keep 30 of them on the pegs in the corridor and they will of course need washing if they have got dirty.
Welcome to Year 1
Our team are: Miss Prior, Miss Salussolia, Mrs Hearnden and Mrs Jones
Hyden Farm Visit - Friday 18th May 2018
As part of our Summer topic 'Farm to Fork', we took the children to visit a local working farm. The children had a very busy but exciting day experiencing some of the jobs on the farm and learning about where our food comes from. We learnt about growing wheat and then had a go at making our own bread rolls. We got to go on a special tractor-trailer ride up to the fields to see the Jersey cows, the sheep and the baby lambs! We made our own pieces of felt from wool and then enjoyed our lunch in the sunshine and some free play in the tunnels and on the hay bales. Then it was time to go and see the different types of birds that they have at the farm and feed the chickens. The children collected the eggs and then learnt how to turn them into scrambled eggs. We got to taste our scrambled eggs and bread before coming back to school. Here are a few pictures from our day....watch out for more coming soon as well as some of our work!
A big thank you to all the helpers who came with us and to Bethan, Richard and Ella for having us.
