Oxfam Toy Swap

In RE we have been learning about Mary and Joseph's flight to Egypt in their efforts to protect baby Jesus from danger.  This led Year 2 to think about the children and families in the world today who are in a similar situation and need to escape to safety as their country is no longer a safe place to be.

They decided they wanted to do something to help.  After some discussions they decided they would like to raise money by holding a toy swap.  Each child paid 50p to take part and swapped an unwanted toy with someone else.

I am very proud of the children as they have shown compassion and understanding for the children of other countries.  Some children have not gone home with their first choice of toy, but they have accepted what they have with gratitude.  We have raised £14.60 which we will send to Oxfam for their Syria Crisis Appeal.

Well done Year 2!
