Year 2 Maths Club
Maths club is a small club run for Year 2 children. Each week the children play games and practice their number facts.
During one session we practiced finding factions of shapes and a given number. We really enjoyed cutting pizzas in half and then quarters. We noticed that cutting a shape into quarters means having four equal parts! There were two pizzas and after eating ¼ of the pizza each we found that we had ¾ of a pizza left. Mrs Wynne took that home for her tea! We used cubes to find halves and quarters of a group of objects: we counted out the whole number first and then shared those cubes into two equal groups (to show half) and 4 equal groups (to show quarters). Well done Maths Club!
