World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day, Year 2 had the opportunity to visit Waterstones and select a book with their book voucher. We were fortunate enough to have time in the book shop to listen to extracts from the different chosen stories and some quiet time to read our own books.
In class, we listened to the story of The Tunnel by Anthony Browne. We thought about what might be on the other side of the tunnel and mind mapped our ideas. Then came the exciting part; transforming our ideas into our own retelling of the book! We all enjoyed letting our imagination run free and creating our own illustrations, as well as words. Once finished, we had the opportunity to share some of our stories with our friends, and then listen to the original ending.
The following day, we came to school dressed in our pyjamas and enjoyed some hot chocolate and stories.
