Week beginning Monday 2nd May 2022
We have continued with our focus on health, particularly regarding good oral health. Many parents have commented about their children discussing this at home and showing a good awareness of this. We have read stories such as 'Biff, Chip & Kipper - Going to the Dentist' and 'Why should we brush our teeth?' The children have been asking and answering questions relating to tooth care and general health and fitness. They have also used the toothbrushes, water and tooth paste to clean the laminated teeth, after making marks on them with a dry wipe pen or paint to show the holes/food on the teeth. They have enjoyed this activity. The children played a new dentist game in which they were identifying the foods and the food group they came from.
Once again, we have had many Tapestry entries for the children to share with their friends. One child became a big sister which was very exciting and we even got to meet the baby!
Thanks to the lovely weather this week, we have spent a lot of time outside playing games and exploring. The children are amazing us with their 'super strength' as they use the monkey bars and climbing equipment in the school grounds.
We have been looking at books together and naming the parts of the book such as the front cover, back cover, talking about page numbers and their significance and distinguishing between words and pictures. The children have been pointing out significant letters in their names and identifying some letter names and sounds. We have also explored alliteration and rhyming words. We have been encouraging the children to ask and answer 'who', 'where' and 'why' questions.
It has been another busy week that has been filled with lots of fun and adventure!
