Week Beginning 20.04.20
Dear Parents and Children,
We hope you are all well and healthy. We also hope that you enjoyed a bit of a rest from home learning over the Easter Holidays, with maybe even a few Easter treats! Remember that regular reading and revising key maths facts are the most important things you can do whilst you are not in school – in addition to keeping your body and mind healthy of course! Please do not put yourself under pressure to complete everything that is suggested if you are finding it all too much. Here is the home learning information for this week.
*Have a look at the key maths facts that we need to know by the end of the Summer Term (see the document saved on this class webpage). Keep practising little and often as you have been doing so far this year.
*Complete one maths challenge per day – see separate ‘Maths Challenges’ document on this webpage.
*Keep up with the daily reading! Read a range of texts and ask your grown up (or an older family member) to ask you questions about what you have read to develop your comprehension skills.
*Look at the English Learning document and choose an activity to do each day.
*Choose 6 common exception words that you know you find tricky – use the tricky word mat given to you at parents’ evening and go through Look, Cover, Write, Check as you normally do with spelling practise. Please also find a copy on the class page. Ask a family member to give you a spelling test to check how well you have learnt your chosen words!
*We will be starting a new topic this term. However, there will be more information on this soon…
I will say that our topic focus will be comparing a locality in the world with Fareham (our school locality and also the area in which most of you live). To prepare for this, please see the Topic Learning document.
*Oue RE unit for the next four weeks is Easter. Read the Easter story from John 20:1-18 and use the powerpoint presentation to develop your thoughts and ideas. Create a piece of artwork which represents the joy felt within the Easter Story.
• PE – continue to stay fit and healthy!
*Join Joe Wicks, the Body Coach each morning at 9am Monday-Friday for some fun daily exercise. Even your adults can join in!
*Try yoga, look at https://www.cosmickids.com/ lots of these can be watched via YouTube.
