Week beginning 13.7.2020
Here is another week of home learning - can you believe it's our last week in Reception. We are all looking forward to out Transition day and going up to year 1 together! Hurrah - I am very excited!
Before then - please make sure your child brings any school books back to school - either reading books which you've spotted at home ( we have a lot of early ones missing), and for picture books from our school library. Please try and have a look and send them in with your children. We will put them in a box to be sorted after a few days.
I wonder how you are finding these strange times - now is a good time to be creating those good habits we all aspire to. I'm trying to get my bike out on dry days to come to work - I was spotted and one of the children reminded me I should be wearing my helmet - they were absolutely right! Take a look at this information we've had from Hampshire, and talk to your children about it.
It would be great to start thinking about joining the Hampshire Libraries Summer Reading Challenge. Go to the link to find out more:
The Hampshire Libraries Summer Reading Challenge website is packed with information, videos, books reviews, downloadable colouring-in sheets, puzzles and challenges. The library service is also hosting a non-stop programme of activities and content on its Facebook pages. In addition the Hampshire Libraries YouTube channel is packed with videos about the Summer Reading Challenge and stories read aloud by library staff. We will also be taking steps to bring the Summer Reading Challenge to those children who won t be able to access the challenge online. Please get in touch with Hampshire library for more details.
This week in phonics - as usual start with a quick run through the sounds.
There are great phonics game for practicing these sounds on ICT games. Have a look at https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/bingoOriginal/index.html -
Phonics Bingo - if you don't have a printer then just ask your child to read the words when they "pull" the red lever. Your child can choose which sounds to do. Try sight word games on there - High frequency word Bingo and Dinosaur Eggs games.
Why not have a go at the game "Big Letter Bunnies" to help your child learn to match the capital and lower case letters.
This week we are continuing to look at Errol's Garden. The children have made some lovely pictures of Errol's garden in school. You might want to look for some ideas in the folder below:
What would they like to see in our own little community garden at school in the new Year 1 playground? They could make a plan and label it.
Have a look at White Rose Maths Early years Summer learning Week 10 https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/ and enjoy some of these lovely activities around "Olivers Vegetables".
Can you go on a butterfly hunt? Can you use books and the internet to find out about butterflies? The caterpillars in school are really growing! Every day we have been watching them change. Can your child make a little zig zag book to show how a caterpillar changes.
Keep us posted with the lovely things you do - put them on Tapestry.
Have a good week!
Keep safe dear ones!
