Week beginning 11/10/21

One of the children had a birthday this week, she kindly brought in a birthday cake to share with her teachers and friends!

We have been very lucky with the weather again this week and have spent lots of time outside. The children have enjoyed making up their own games such as having tyre races on the field and competitions to see who could jump the furthest.

Some of the parents added Tapestry entries. The children enjoyed sharing their experiences from home using the interactive board.

The children have been very creative when playing with the transport in the blue room. They used a range of loose parts such as cardboard tubes, pieces of wood, guttering etc. to make a track for the cars.

Our book of the week was 'The Gingerbread Man'. The children enjoyed listening to the story, recalling it, drawing pictures of the characters, making gingerbread men, decorating and eating them and using collage materials to make their own gingerbread men. They also learned a song about the Gingerbread Man.

Our new Makaton signs this week were 'brother' and 'sister'. The children have been learning about the 'square' shape and been finding squares in the environment. They have also been learning about the colour blue and practised the Makaton sign for this.

We introduced the song, 'I've got ten little fingers'. The children copied the actions and learned some of the words. They also danced to a wide range of music.

The children have shown a great imagination throughout the week and have explored the roles of doctors, nurses, hairdressers and builders.
