Week beginning 03/01/22
We have had a very busy first week back after the Christmas holiday with eight new children starting pre-school. Our children have welcomed their new friends and have been wonderful role models! The new children have settled very well and are already learning our routine and have had fun exploring their new environment.
The children have been learning about 'The Gingerbread Man' story. They learned new Makaton signs relating to key words in the story and watched Mr Tumble read 'The Gingerbread Man' story on the interactive board whilst joining in with the signs. The children have been acting out the story and recalling what happened at each stage. They also learned a new song called '5 Gingerbread Men' and drew pictures of 'The Gingerbread Man'.
We talked about self-help and self-care skills such as using the potty/toilet, washing hands and brushing teeth. The children learned new toothbrushing songs and took part in a quiz about toothbrushing. They remembered that they had to brush their teeth for two minutes and move the toothbrush around in tiny circles to clean their teeth.
The children played some listening games this week and did very well at guessing what they could hear such as different animals, types of transport etc. This is part of our Letters and Sounds programme.
We managed to explore outside. It was cold but once the children started running around, they soon warmed up! They particularly enjoyed playing on the wooden climbing equipment on the school field.
It has been lovely getting to know our new children and families and we look forward to another busy week next week!
