Week 4 - Summer 1 2023
We have some fantastic artists in pre-school. Since we started Scribble Club, the children have gained confidence in mark making and are now drawing lots of recognisable pictures, shapes, numbers and letters.
The children made coronation cakes with Mrs Ray this week and decorated them. They then ate the cakes whilst wearing their crowns and had milkshake to drink.
Our children have learned so many Makaton signs since they started pre-school. They have an amazing memory for these and are communicating using words and Makaton signs.
The children were very excited that the caterpillars had turned into chrysalis. They are now in their butterfly garden and are being checked by the children every day waiting for them to turn into beautiful butterflies.
We have continued with our topic of ‘Traditional Tales’. The children made houses for the Three Pigs using craft resources inside and real resources in the playground. They had porridge for snack like Goldilocks and the Three Bears and listened to and recalled many stories. The children sung songs about the book characters and did the Makaton signs whilst singing.
Towards the end of the week, the children helped Mrs Cantillon do some gardening and planted some bedding plants. They were very excited that they also found worms, woodlice and centipedes in the pre-school playground.
