Week 2

The children have been doing activities this week relating to fireworks and Remembrance Day. The firework activities included making chocolate sparklers, fireworks from recycled materials, watching firework displays on the interactive board and making firework pictures with paint, glitter and collage materials.

The children made poppies with playdough, made poppy biscuits, painted poppies and did poppy drawings and colourings. We talked throughout the week about why we wear poppies.

On Friday, the children watched a CBeebies clip for two minutes at 11am of a poppy field. We talked about which parents and grandparents were in the military and the role animals played in keeping us all safe. Mrs Cantillon told the children that she used to be in the Royal Navy and Mrs Breakwell talked about how she is a Cub Leader and will be marching on parade at the weekend. We thought about those that kept us safe in the past and gave thanks to those who continue to do so today.

We had a den making afternoon, the children used their imaginations and thought of how they could make dens out of the pre-school resources. They played in the blackout tent with the ICT resources including the projector, torches and cube that changes colours.

The children have been practising their self-help skills this week including putting their own coats on and washing their cups and bowls after snack!
