Spring 2 2023 - Week 5
Our topic focus for this week and next is 'Growing/Planting'. The children have been learning the parts of a plant. They have discovered what plants needs to grow and have learned songs about this and a poem. They have threaded beads onto pipe cleaners to make their own flowers and planted them in plant pots.
The children took part in some Easter activities including marble painting Easter eggs. They have also designed their own Easter eggs and explored patterns.
We have had two play sessions with Year R this week which the children have enjoyed. We did a Forest School session with them. The children did bark rubbings, used the magnifying glasses, binoculars, bug catchers and went on a bug hunt, colour hunt and texture hunt. We also played in the school grounds with Year R. Some of the pre-school children have siblings in Year R and they enjoyed playing together.
The children made models from recycled materials. They had great imaginations when talking about what they were making and were very proud of their models.
