Spring 1 2023 - Week 1

We have had a very busy first week of the Spring term. We have welcomed new friends and families into pre-school and have enjoyed getting to know them. We are so proud of our children for helping their new friends and for making them feel welcome.

The children were very excited to share their news with us about what they got for Christmas and the fun they had with their families.

This week, our book focus is ‘Two Homes’. We have been talking about our families. The children talked about who lives in their homes. Some children said that they had two bedrooms, one at Mummy’s house and one at Daddy’s house. Some children had bedrooms and sleepovers at their grandparents houses. We explored how families are all different from each other.

The children did a quiz on the interactive board in which they had to guess which room in the house they were talking about by listening to clues and looking at furniture. They did very well with this and talked about what was in each room of their houses.

Our song focus this week has been ‘Tommy Thumb’. The children have enjoyed singing this.

We are looking forward to continuing with our ‘Home’ focus next week and learning new songs.

The children used the pipettes with coloured water to add water to oil. They enjoyed making patterns and seeing how the oil and water separated. The children also explored magnets. We have some budding scientists in our pre-school!

Some of the children shared their Tapestry photographs with their teachers and friends. This is a lovely way of sharing experiences and developing communication and language skills.
