Although the snow didn't last very long, the children had lots of fun in it! They played outside and collected snow using buckets and spades. They then brought the snow inside and placed it in the water tray. They added penguins and polar bears and made up their own role play scenarios - even the dinosaurs came to visit!
The children talked about what would happen to the ice if it was left in the tray and if it would still be there when they returned to nursery. Some of the children used nets to try to catch the snow and made snowballs. They ended the day by making ice for the following week so that they could make a skating rink for the penguins.
Mrs Cantillon showed the children video clips of animals who live in cold places. They thought the penguins were very funny as they kept falling over on the ice!
