Saxons and Vikings
As a hook into learning about the Saxons and Scots, Year 4 had an afternoon exploring images, artefacts and costumes. We used questions and made links to consider what the objects and images were and what the items were used for. We discussed who they may have belonged to. As part of our learning, we also considered how archaeologists find, locate and record information when they complete a dig and make a new discovery. We turned a classroom into an archaeological dig by using a grid and used co-ordinates to record what we found in each co-ordinate. It was a great way to create discussion and consider the job of an archaeologist.
