Pre-School - Week beginning Monday 8th March 2021
We have had such a busy week. All our children have returned to pre-school which has been lovely! We have also had three new children join pre-school, our children have made them feel very welcome.
The children have taken part in lots of 'Book Week' activities including trying a range of foods with a Gruffalo theme. They have eaten scrambled snake (scrambled egg), Gruffalo crumble (apple and blackberry crumble) and Owl ice cream (chocolate ice cream with edible Gruffalo paper). Mrs Ray cooked/prepared the food and arranged for the edible paper to be printed.
We also did activities about Supertato and made characters out of vegetables. The children acted out the story.
Two of the children brought in 'Where's Wally' books and we had a lot of fun finding Wally.
The children watched video clips relating to favourite stories and had lots of stories read to them. Some of the children read stories to their friends and brought their favourite books in from home.
We were lucky enough to have parents read stories to the children via Tapestry. One parent read a story in French. The children enjoyed this and it led to an interesting discussion about the different languages spoken in pre-school. The children learned how to say words in different language and used the Bilingual Talking Dictionary.
Miss Lea, the reception teacher, read a story to the children called 'Aliens Love Underpants' which they enjoyed.
We ended the week with a pyjama day where the children and teachers dressed in their pyjamas and shared their favourite stories. They had hot chocolate and the kitchen staff made the children biscuits.
Mrs Cantillon held a 'Book Quiz', the children were very good at guessing the answers from the clues!
The children have also been very busy making Mother's Day cards and presents. They talked about how they were going to make Mother's Day special at the weekend!
A good time was had by all!
