Leonardo da Vinci

The children have been learning about the famous Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci.  They have explored various pieces of his work as a artist, inventor, architect and scientist.

As a class, we spent time looking at and learning about his most famous painting, The Mona Lisa.  The children discussed what they liked and disliked about it, they considered her feelings and the purpose of the painting.  When looking at the background they spent some time considering alternative backgrounds.  This led them to design their own background for the painting.  The children worked in pairs to take turns photographing their partner in the pose of lady in the painting and then posing themselves.  They had great fun and have produced some very inspiring pieces of art.  Well done Year 3!
