Hello Year 4!

I hope you have all had a lovely and relaxing Easter break, even if you had to spend most of it indoors! I am sure you have still been up to lots of fun and exciting things with your families.

This week is the start of a brand new term with lots of new things to learn about.

Here are some activities that you could try over the next week.

English –

-Make sure that you are continuing to read as often as possible.
-Write a diary about how you have been spending your days at home.
-Practise your spellings in fun and interesting ways (ideas in the English folder)

Our class novel for the summer term is ‘Journey to the River Sea’ by Eva Ibbotson. I have included some  files in the English folder with the first 2 chapters of the book a well as some questions and activities you could try. If you have access to the class Seesaw there is also a video of me reading the chapters so you can read along too.

Maths –

-Use the topmarks website ( ) to play games like hit the button and daily 10 as well as many more!
-Use TTRS to continue practising your times tables.
-White rose maths has daily activities and videos up on their site for you to try
-Have a go at the activities in the Maths folder.

PE –

-Joe Wicks is currently doing a PE session on YouTube every morning. What a great way to start the day! You can find his channel here -
-You (parents) can find ‘Hampshire Schools Games Organisers’ on Facebook or Twitter. There are daily challenges that you can have a go at while you are at home.

RE –

Read Luke 24:13-35 Road to Emmaus

What were the disciples feeling after the death of Jesus?

How did seeing him change them?

What helped them recognise Jesus?

Write a play script to portray what happened in the story.

Topic –

Our new topic for the Summer term is Rivers. This week I would like you to research a famous river and present it in an interesting way. It could be a poster, a video, a presentation, whatever you like!

Some rivers that you could choose are:

-The  Amazon
-The Nile
-The Ganges
-The Thames
-Any other rivers that you would like to find out more about!

Make sure you include information about:

-Where the river is
-What it is used for
-The types of animals that live there
-The length

Mindfulness –

-Part of making sure that our brains stay healthy and strong is to make sure we do things that make us feel relaxed and happy. Try some of the activities in the mindfulness folder.
-Creating something can often help to relax our minds. Try draw with Rob to develop your drawing skills and produce some lovely pictures.

Have a great week! I can’t wait to see all of the fantastic things that you have been up to on Seesaw. If you don’t have access to Seesaw, but would still like to share what you have been doing, parents are still more than welcome to email me at
