Forest School

Year 3 have enjoyed exploring the school grounds as part of their forest school sessions.  To begin the session the children look for hazards in their location.  This can be anything from mushrooms, broken branches, holly or thorn bushes and even fox poo! They mark the hazard with a red flag to warn their friends of the hazard so that they can avoid it.

As we are learning about the Stone Age, Dr Collins is making links with this through forest school.  The children have explored different tools and pieces of equipment.  They have made whistles from acorn cups and blades of grass.  They have used reindeer horns as hunting tools to catch their prey.

And of course their most favourite part is sitting around the campfire toasting their bread.
