Year One had a fabulous day visiting Hyden Farm in Clanfield.
The children were able to have a tractor trailer ride up to see their heritage herd of Kerry cows.
We looked at the pigs and learnt about how they use their snout to dig about in the earth to find food, and roll in mud for sun protection! We looked at their cloven hooves - and learned that these are called trotters. Do you know how many piglets a Mummy pig will have? The children went off to search in the long grass for baby piglets to find out....but the little piglets were disguised as tennis balls!!
Another local farmer even stopped by to show us his lambs. We looked carefully at where horns might grow, and at their cloven hooves.
