Coronation Art Project
To celebrate the King's Coronation, the whole school took part in an art project. Each year group were given a UK flower that has been chosen to be on a set of stamps to commemorate the Coronation. Year 2 had the sunflower. We recapped on what we knew about Vincent Van Gogh, from our learning in year 1, and then learnt about another famous artist who used sunflowers in his artwork; Monet. We created our own sunflowers using oil pastels and watercolours. We used a variety of mark making to add texture to our flowers and chose different earthy tones.
We were very impressed with the finished sunflowers, and even more impressed with the school Coronation meadow.
