This half term we were thrilled to raise chicks. We had eggs from Farmer Graham and an incubator...
After three weeks we were so excited that the chicks hatched. Each day the children held the chicks and watched to see how they changed and grew.
After 10 days in the classroom the chicks were returned to the farm where the eggs came from. Farmer Graham put them in his chick shed until they are old enough to join the other hens outside. They had a special electric "Mother Hen" to shelter under and keep warm. Barley the farm dog loved watching them too...but can you spot another little chick watching in the photo?
This little chick had hatched from a nest in the corner of the shed's roof!
