Butser Ancient Farm 15.09.21
On Wednesday 15th September, Year 3 visited Butser Ancient Farm. We had a fantastic time comparing the dwellings of Stone Age and Iron Age people with the homes that we live in today.
It was great fun getting messy as we crushed chalk to make ‘Clunch’, which is the mixture that covered the wooden structures of roundhouses. Being an archaeologist was very interesting, as we unearthed lots of animal bones, flints and artefacts that we identified from the Stone Age. We enjoyed showing our creativity when we made clay pots and models of roundhouses.
In addition to all of this, we got the opportunity to live, touch, smell and experience what life would have been like for people so long ago in history. Please ask us questions at home to find out more about what we learned from our trip!
