Year 3 have created art work inspired by the print, The Great Wave Off Kanagawa by the Japanese artist Hokusai.
The children used a variety of mediums to produce their masterpiece. First they sketched a large wave using pencil. The children tried hard to use light movements with the pencil and to avoid using an eraser. Next, they added colour to the wave using different shades of blue and green felt tip pens. The children then chose a colour opposite blue or green on the colour wheel for their background and painted the background, using watercolours. Texture was added to the wave by flicking white paint off a toothbrush for a foamy effect!
