Museum Workshop and WW1 Artefact Box
In order to prepare for displaying their own work in Fareham library, year 3 learnt how artefacts are displayed for members of the public. Fareham museum visited the school, along with lots of artefacts and display resources, and set the children the challenge of creating a display for a certain period of history. The children thought about raising the height of certain artefacts, writing labels to inform the reader and spacing out artefacts so they could be seen clearly.
To bring our topic to life, the children were able to handle some real life artefacts from WW1. We read letters written by soldiers and family members during that difficult time, we looked at the uniform and items the soldiers would need to carry and even what tools they used to dig the trenches.
